Description:
We have invested 3 years developing a patent pending end-to-end solution, which reduces or eliminates the damaging effects of large hail (1 inch or larger), on vehicles, when overhead structures are not available. The solution has demonstrated and proven the capability of stopping hailstones even larger than baseballs, traveling at terminal velocity, from damaging a vehicle. Coupled with its proactive hailstorm email/text alerting system, the solution provides vehicle owners the first and only effective, portable solution to combat the effects of large hail.
National Weather Service data indicates that hail larger than one inch has fallen in all 48 contiguous states in 2011, as the result of over 9,000 individual hail storms. With 254 million automobiles registered in the USA, as of December 2010, the market for this proprietary solution is significant. Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars in damage and lost time is experienced by consumers and businesses due to large hail.
Research with consumers, vehicle manufacturers, existing car cover manufacturers, wholesale cover providers and insurance companies inform us that this is not only a product needed on the market, but it is the first and only viable hail protective system they've seen. Our technology will also be adapted for use on motorcycles, boats and other items left exposed to the elements.
An individual user of our product will purchase their product online and simultaneously set up their profile to receive our proprietary alert service. When our product is purchased through a dealer or distributor, they will also visit the our service online to activate their alert service. This service is provided for free for the first year and for a modest renewal rate thereafter.
Our product is generally installed when inclement weather is forecasted (alert provided by our service). When the user receives a "hail alert" or “advisory” from our proprietary service (based on data provided by The National Weather Service), the user will activate our product via the included remote control (100 ft range). Our product operates for multiple hours on auto accessory/lighter power without effecting the vehicles starting ability or on C size batteries for over 1 hour (most hail events last approximately 5 minutes). Our product is highly portable and easy to install. Our product stores in a trunk, in its storage bag (size of a dry cleaning bag) and weighs approximately 14 pounds without batteries (less than 2 gallons of milk).
Our product will retail between $199 and $249 depending on size of vehicle, will provide a planned gross margin of 50% when sold direct to the consumer and provide a still healthy gross margin when sold in volume to dealers and distributors. Initial plans will be to launch with 3 SKU’s.
Our product is a balance of innovation, high performance, necessity and value that pays for itself on its first use. Our proprietary technology and end to end business model creates a very difficult barrier to entry by would be competitors.
Funding is sought to:
1) Complete construction of our online point of sales and delivery system for the product and its service, and
2) Fund initial inventory.
Through seed stage funding, the company will validate their 3 years of product and alert service development by conducting a limited rollout of the product. This limited rollout will identify the most efficient go to market strategy, enable optimization of alert service capabilities for the highest customer satisfaction, and validate the profitability of our web based distribution business model. To accomplish these objectives the company is in need of raising $200,000. In exchange for this investment, the company is interested in discussing various arrangements of compensation, including equity ownership in the company. The company is also interested in speaking with investors who would like an active role in the company.
