I'm currently seeking venture capital/angel funding for a growing and proven profitable web 2.0 online chat and community site. I'm seeking anywhere from $50,000 up to over 1 million dollars in capital. This website has been profitable each and every month for over 2 years and is already establishing it's self as a dominate web site in the online chat market, this is one of the lowest risk ventures you will probably find in the consumer internet market with such a large potential for growth.
I believe the market climate for this niche is absolutely perfect for this site to quickly gather up the majority of the market share and become the dominant player. Over the last two and a half years I've developed, funded, and managed this site on my own, and have pushed it to the verge of being a dominant player in the market. However I'm reaching a crossroads with this project where I need to find a way to dedicate more resources both in capital and manpower than I'm currently able to in order to really push this site to it's full potential quickly.
At the moment the competition is weakened and unfocused and I would like to take advantage of that while I can. There is still a large demand for this type of site and many consumers are seeking an alternative to the current providers, and I think I have exactly the alternative they want.
This site is currently on the verge of hitting page 1 in the search engines for an extremely competitive keyword "chat" which will boost this site's traffic significantly. With proper funding I could ensure that we reach a top of page 1 rank quickly. This site currently does about 3,000 unique hits per day with about 15,000 page loads per day all of which is from free organic search engine traffic and word of mouth. We also have a very loyal member base about 120,000 strong, some of which spend several hours daily on the site, in fact for many of our members it is more of a way of life than a simple web site.
The exit strategy for this project is flexible, there are several possibilities depending on the amount of funding raised and the terms of the investors. A simple sale after 1 to 2 years is of course always a possibility, as well as the possibility of taking the company public. However, my original vision for this project is to use this community as a springboard to build into additional projects leveraging the already established loyal user base that will have been built. Other projects I would like to explore once a certain level of success has been reached include a 100% community driven search engine, and a new ad delivery system with an emphasis on a person's friends network ('#' friends have clicked on this offer, '#' friends recommend this offer, 'friend' has suggested you check out this offer, etc). I would also like to explore integrating the popularity among a person's friends network into an ad's ranking in addition to just the bid amount using the theory that a person's social circle interests will better serve more targeted ads resulting in more clicks, and even though the bid amounts may be lower, more profit will be derived from higher click thru's and advertisers will continue to use the service longer as they will enjoy a higher ROI and success rate. These are just a couple of ideas I would like to explore using this site as the foundation. The true power of this type of site is that it gives you an instant and ready audience which already has a certain amount of trust in your brand, enabling you to launch almost any other service or product with a much higher success rate, adding a tremendous boost in revenue.
